Welcome

Hi, my name is Sarah Lycett. I was born in Denver, Colorado, and come from a pretty large family, 6 kids in total. I currently have 24 nieces and nephews and counting. I love woodworking. I’ve been doing it since I was probably about nine years old. One of my first projects was a little red chair I made for my brother’s first child. It was questionably safe and probably would’ve given him splinters if he’d actually tried to sit on it.

Anyhow, I’ve been woodworking ever since, in all sorts of ways. I took Shop class, which is something I’m incredibly grateful I had access to, both as a girl and because so many of those programs have since been cut. After that, I started making things for friends, family, church, and whoever needed something. Benches, picnic tables, signs, you name it.

Eventually, that led me to whittling, and I fell in love. My fingers… maybe not so much, with all the little cuts. But whittling made me fall in love specifically with the unique patterns in wood, and I started using random branches and scraps to make little characters.

That curiosity then led me to making rings and then earrings, which has been such a joy. Each piece of wood is a little different and so beautiful! Kinda like you and me, huh?
